RECYCLING:
We recycle everything, and we mean EVERYTHING! A large percentage of the sets, props, and
decorations used throughout our events and attractions are salvaged materials that have been re-purposed
rather than being sent to landfills and waste storage facilities. All organic waste produced is used to
enrich our vegetation efforts. Pallets, tires, crates, and much of our set dressing materials are donated
from local industries and companies that would otherwise be forced to send their residual refuse to landfills
causing additional solid waste to be put into our environment. Waste items such as empty cans, rusted parts,
out-dated electronics, shipping skids, crates, non-toxic and hazard-free medical items, and discarded household
goods are refurbished and re-purposed as props rather than being disposed of in an attempt to help lower our
community’s effect on the environment. Ask how you can help!

LAND CONSERVATION:
Over 35 acres of DarkSyde has been designated to our land and nature conservation efforts.
Several acres of our land have been left specifically for the preservation of our area’s forest and woodlands.
To insure its continued growth a variety of plants, trees, and wild flowers are planted at DarkSyde every year.
In addition, DSA uses only organic and pesticide free fertilizer on our crops and fields. DarkSyde also provides
its own water source which is filtered through the natural sand beds found throughout our nearly 40 acres. To
further limit our impact on the environment, no chemicals are used on, or added to, our crops, fields, or water
supply. Ask how you can volunteer to help!

WILDLIFE EFFORTS:
More than a dozen equine, including several wild born Mustangs, currently free roam our
expansive hillsides. They are accompanied by a large whitetail deer population that enjoy DarkSyde’s strict no
hunting policy. A variety of species, including various domesticated and wild fowl also inhabit our acreage and
help to insure the health and stability of our area’s wildlife population. The majority of both our domesticated
and free range animals were rescued from less than acceptable situations. Many of these beautiful creatures
would have been destroyed were it not for the incredible sacrifices, time, donations, and efforts of our
volunteers and the ever growing support of our community. Volunteer opportunities, sponsorship listings,
and donation opportunities are available.
